Lisbon Restaurants for foodies

This post is dedicated to Rory Kelly, my fave Bicyle thief … like ever! He has a food blog that will have your mouth salivating faster than a Ferrari. This super duper dude is popping across to Lisbon on his hols and here is the list of my fav foodie spots that he’s asked for.

DeliDelux Lisbon

It is a delicatessen, a cafe and a grocery rolled into one. I sat outside and devoured a ball of buffalo mozzarella served with tomatoes and drizzled with balsamic the taste of which I can still remember to this day. The food is Mediterranean in persuasion and all the ingredients in the dishes can be bought in the store! You could easily spend hours here, sitting outside, tasting treats and gazing out over the waterfront. DeliDelux Lisbon

Café Royale Lisbon

Good spot for a lazy brunch or lunch. They focus on high quality organic and natural ingredients and fresh juices. Out the back is a courtyard and the inside is stylishly decorated. Pastas, salads and chocolicious muffins featured on the menu. Café Royale Lisbon

Maria Caxuxa

This funky bar buzzes with bohemian charm. It is filled with mismatched furniture, retro goods, and a quirky selection of flea market finds. It gets lively and crowded and you’ll be lucky to nab a seat at the weekends. We listened to a great selection of jazzy tunes coupled with frothy beers. Opens until 4am and smoking seems allowed inside when I was there. Although the real party is going on right outside on the street. Maria Caxuxa Bar Bairro Alto Lisbon

Pasteleria Flor de Sé

There are tons of Pasteleria’s around Lisbon. I loved this one as it seemed like the no frills, not catered to tourists real deal. Locals supped coffee’s at the counter, paper doilies decorated the sweet counter and there were some nice pies and savoury pastries also. Super cheap to boot. Thought the girl made a mistake with 2 coffees & 2 cakes for under a fiver! It’s around the corner from St. Anthony’s Church on  Largo de Santo António da Sé (see map below). Pastelaria Flor da Sé, Largo de Santo António da Sé, Lisbon

Miradouro de Santa Catarina & Noobai Café

These Miradouro’s or viewing spots are all around town. This one is only a few minutes walk from Barrio Alto and offers incredible views out over the cityscape. Locals come here to have intense discussions on the topic of the day while tourists snap photos. Turbo charged coffees, beers, and spirits are served here. While just next door is the Noobai Café offers top notch nosh. Great at sunset. Miradouro de Santa Catarina Lisbon

These are recommended Lisbon Restaurants… but I havn’t been to them yet

Mercado da Ribeira Restaurante Carnalentejana DOP – Alentejo’s best La Paparrucha – Best meat. Best view. Pub Lisboeta – Finger food in Principe Real
